Beauty Blends: The Beauty Benefits of Pineapples

Hi Beauties!

I hope you've been enjoying our beauty blends blogs over the last couple of weeks as much as I've enjoyed writing them. To be honest, I've always knew fruits were healthy, but some of the benefits I'm learning right along with y'all and it's quite fascinating.😉 Maybe because I'm getting older and sometimes outside of supplements, we can always use a little extra help to stay looking as youthful as we can.

So we're on week 4 and so far we've learned the beauty benefits of Lime, Guava and Pears. If you missed any of these blogs, you can view them here.

This week, we're learning the beauty benefits of Pineapples. If you're a pineapple lover, you're in for a treat! Let's discover more about this wonderful fruit.

Beauty Blends: The Beauty Benefits of Pineapple

Pineapple is a tropical fruit that’s loaded with health benefits. It’s rich in vitamins, antioxidants, fiber, and water but low in calories, making it a great snack. They contain a powerful enzyme called bromelain, which is responsible for many of the fruit’s health benefits. It’s also one of the main reasons pineapple is claimed to be good for your skin. Studies have shown that bromelain has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties.

The vitamin C content in pineapples may also promote skin health. One cup of pineapples contains 88% of the Daily Value (DV) for vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant.

Vitamin C has several properties that may benefit your skin health:

  • Promotes collagen production. It encourages the production of collagen; a protein that gives your skin its structure while maintaining its plasticity.
  • Has antioxidant properties. As an antioxidant, vitamin C can help prevent damage to skin cells caused by free radicals. These are unstable compounds that can be harmful when present at high levels.
  • Aids wound healing. It may help promote wound healing by supporting the production of new skin cells.

Although pineapples are high in Vitamin C, don't feel that you need to consume them everyday. It's about balance. Incorporate other fruits with Vitamin C into your diet such as oranges.

So now that we've learned about the wonderful skin benefits of pineapples, it's time to make us a health and beauty drink.🤗

I prefer to blend pineapples by itself. It's such a refreshing drink on its own. But if you're in a blending mood, you can never go wrong with more Vitamin C, right?

Orange Pineapple Smoothie

The simplest yet yummy recipe. Get a one-two punch of Vitamin C to start your day or as a midday snack.

  • 2 cups of fresh or frozen Pineapples
  • 1 cup of fresh or frozen orange slices
  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup of cold water or ice (optional)

Instructions: Add pineapples and oranges into blender and blend. If too thick, add water to blender until desired consistency. Add your favorite sweetener if desired.

Remember, if you're not able to find any of the fruits fresh, frozen will do as well.
