Hi Beauties!
Today I’m starting something new. We all know how skincare products can benefit our skin from the outside, right? Well I’ve been on a journey of learning how certain foods can benefit our skin from the inside as well as the outside. With that said, I’ll be sharing Beauty Blends. A quick read on how certain fruit blends are beneficial for your skin.
This week I want to talk about the fruit Lime. A lime has several properties that may promote healthy skin when consumed.
One is that they’re high in vitamin C, which is necessary to make collagen (a protein that keeps your skin firm and strong). A medium lime (67 grams) provides over 20% of the Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) for this nutrient.
Another benefit are limes are high in antioxidants, which may help combat age-related skin changes such as oxidative stress. It can lead to signs of premature aging.
Due to the high vitamin C content and antioxidants, your skin will start to glow.
What drinks can you add lime to? Here are a couple of ways to incorporate it.
A lime is great on it's own. Just clean it really good, then slice and add to a glass of water. You can add a sweetener like honey to it which also includes antioxidants.
But here is a great summer blend for you. It's refreshing, light and some use it to detox. This beauty blend is sure to quench your thirst and benefit your skin.
Watermelon-Lime Juice
I chose watermelon as it has big hydration benefits.
Combine it with lime for a great-tasting juice that’s not only hydrating but is high in vitamin C and antioxidants as well.
Make it by combining the following in your juicer:
- 2 cups watermelon (cubed)
- 1 lime
- handful of mint leaves (optional)
This watermelon, lime juice is best to have in the morning. Drink it for an energizing start to your day.
I hope you like today's blog. Let me know if you give this recipe a try. If you love juicing or smoothies, let me know and share some of your combos below.
Until next time!
