With everything going on in the world, many are becoming or still stressed. Although I don't watch much tv, news, etc. I have to acknowledge what is currently happening. This has caused me some level of anxiety. To take better care of me today, I'm going to do things that will help put my mind at ease.
Today I will give myself one of my favorite self care routines, a pedicure. While my feet soak, I will put on my headphones and listen to some guided meditation. For those that don't know, meditation is a type of mind-body medicine. During meditation, you develop intentional focus, minimizing random thoughts about the past or future. Meditation may offer many benefits, such as helping with concentration, relaxation, inner peace, stress reduction and fatigue.
Most people meditate in a quiet setting, a comfortable position, focused attention and an open attitude. When I have a lot going on, my mind wanders. Therefore I opt for guided meditation. This type of meditation allows me to listen to a voice and soft music, which causes me to focus. There are many apps for meditation but I just choose one on youtube. Just search for guided meditation, there are many available.
How much time is needed? Just 10-15 minutes a day, as often as you can but at least once per week.
