Day 8 - LBBs 8-Day Skin Detox

Woohoo! We made it!

8 days of skin detoxing has finally come to an end. I'm glad that I made it all 8 days but to be honest, I'm glad it over. I missed some of my soap faves and a new Pink Peony body I made for my niece has been calling my name this week. I will certainly in it soon.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Mud Scrub yesterday after using The Everything Bar. I felt like I embarked onto a spa and did not want to do anything afterwards but lay up in bed with a good movie or book and eat a huge bowl of fruit😂

Skin detoxing is one of the best regimens you can incorporate into you skin routine. Outside of everything we discussed this past week, you will definitely feel better about yourself physically as well as mentally. You set a goal and crushed it!

Because life is always throwing us a curb ball, some of you may not have experienced the results you were hoping to obtain. You may be thinking the products or detox doesn't work. Nope, that's not true. This is where we need to start addressing a detox internally👀 I promise I will not take you down a rabbit whole😉

Detoxing internally for skin health
Detoxing internally can be a fun goal as well, especially if you have not detoxed before or its been a while. A simple detox can be to drink a certain amount of water a day be to cut out sweets, process foods, meat. dairy, etc. for a period of time determined by you. Add more dark, leafy vegetable or greens into your diet. Replace one meal a day with healthy salad (watch that dressing though).

Fruits for Healthy Skin Blog by Luxurious Bath Boutique

Don't forget your fruits! Fruits are great for detoxing and your skin. Let's look at a few you can incorporate and why?

Lemons are natural bleaching agents. They are rich in vitamin C, a potent antioxidant that helps flush out toxins and protect the skin from photodamage and hyperpigmentation. So, if you have uneven pigmentation, dark spots, acne scars, or keratinization, try using lemon to get glowing skin.

Papayas contain vitamins A, C, B, pantothenic acid, and folate and minerals such as copper, potassium, and magnesium. They also contain enzymes like papain and chymopapain that help prevent skin damage by free radicals and have antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties. Consuming papaya can help prevent constipation, which is one of the reasons for poor skin health.

Avocado is rich in healthy fats, dietary fiber, and vitamins E, A, C, K, B6, niacin, folate, and pantothenic acid. It has antioxidant properties that help reduce oxidative damage, which, in turn, prevents DNA damage. Consuming avocado can promote healthy aging as it is rich in lutein and zeaxanthin that protect your skin from UV radiation. The healthy fats in avocados help retain the skin’s elasticity, reduce inflammation, and speed up wound healing (5). Here’s how you can use avocado to get clear and flawless skin.

The sweet, juicy, and pulpy orange has a vibrant color and intoxicating smell. This fruit can also work wonders for your skin. Like lemons, oranges too are rich in vitamin C – 100 grams of oranges contain 54 milligrams of vitamin C, which is an antioxidant. This means that oranges can help prevent oxidative damage, photodamage, DNA damage, reduce inflammation, and aid collagen synthesis.

Vitamins for Healthy Skin Blog by Luxurious Bath Boutique

Are you getting enough vitamins each day? Vitamins and minerals are essential for overall health including healthy skin. Here are a few:

Vitamin A
Both the upper and lower layers of skin need vitamin A. It seems to prevent sun damage by interrupting the process that breaks down collagen.

Vitamin C
Think "C" for collagen: This vitamin helps the twisted web of protein hold its shape. It's also a powerful antioxidant, protecting you from free radicals and possibly lowering your chance of skin cancer. Low levels of vitamin C can cause easy bruising and bleeding gums, as well as slower-healing sores.

Vitamin E
This antioxidant and anti-inflammatory can also absorb the energy from UV light, which damages skin and leads to wrinkles, sagging, and skin cancer. It works with vitamin C to strengthen cell walls.

The outer layer of your skin has five times more of this mineral than the layer underneath. Zinc helps your skin heal after an injury. It's needed to keep cell walls stable and for cells to divide and specialize as they grow. Also, too little zinc can look like eczema, but the itchy rash won't get better when you put moisturizers and steroid creams on it.

You may be saying that you already take these vitamins within your daily multi-vitamin. Although true, is it enough? I learned that I am not getting enough of certain vitamins when I became ill a few years ago. Although I take a multivitamin, I also take Vitamin C, B12 and D daily as well. It can become too much for some, so to make things easier, take the multi in the morning and take the others at bedtime. Works like a charm.

How medications can affect skincare blog by Luxurious Bath Boutique

Lastly, medication can cause skin issues such as dryness, acne, bumps, etc. If you know your medication is causing skin issues or not sure, please reach out to your medical professional and ask questions. You never know if more a certain vitamin can help you achieve the skin you desire.

I hope today's blog help you learn a little more on how you want to focus on internally as well as externally. Many people achieve better looking skin by just drinking more water which will help eliminate toxins, cleanse your colon, etc.
Start today, it's never too late to work on you. The one thing I have learned in 2020 is time is too short to sweat the small stuff. Make sure you take of you and do what you're supposed to and leave the rest for God to sort out.

Let us know what you thought about the skin detox and what are some goals you would like to set for your skincare this year.

Thank you so much for embarking on this skin detox journey with me. I can't wait to share what I am doing next.😉

Until next time,
