Skincare Needs for Women in the 20s and 30s by Luxurious Bath Boutique™️

What happens with your skin during your 20s and 30s?

The wonderful thing about your 20s and 30s is that your youth is on your side. Even in your 30s. Now genetics, child bearing, and diet affects your skin, but outside of those factors, consistency and the right products are going to make your skincare routine a breeze.

Take it easy in your 20s and early 30s. Too much when not necessary can be counterproductive.

Face Wash

Your skin type will determine the type of face wash you use but ensure its gentle for your skin. Make sure you are thoroughly cleansing your skin especially if you wear make-up. From experience, most individuals in this age range fall asleep in their make-up than others. Causing skin issues they otherwise would not have.

Also, make sure you are cleansing your face morning and night. Because of youth or busy moms, you tend not cleanse properly day and night. So be diligent.

Exfoliation is actually not necessary for most during this time. Why?, because your youth again working in your favor. Cell turn over is high during this time so there’s really no need for physical exfoliants. That’s not to say you don’t or can’t use them but a good evaluation of your skin on how fast a blemish (acne/hyperpigmentation) disappears is a good indicator if you need to exfoliate or not.

The type of exfoliant is a matter or preference, but the gentler the better. Chemical exfoliants are all the craze right now as the chance of injuring your skin is minimal compared to physical exfoliants.

Here is a chart of the types of exfoliants you should purchase based on skin type:

  • Dry = Lactic acid
  • Acne = Salicylic acid
  • Sensitive = Lipo-Hydroxy-Acid (LHA)
  • Dull = Glycolic

Physical Exfoliants

If chemical exfoliants are not for you, then physical exfoliants such as a sugar scrub are excellent as well. It’s really a matter of preference/skin needs.

Dealing with acne in your 20s and 30s by Luxurious Bath Boutique™️

Acne can be a problem for many. With all of the hormonal changes, acne can become and remain a problem in 20s as well as your 30s. If you were on the pill and came off, this can be the reason acne surfaces. For many, the pill keeps your skin clear. If not going back on the pill, you will need to address acne as soon as possible before it becomes worse.

Dermatologists recommend Retinol. Introducing a retinol into your night regimen will normalize your skin, encouraging it to shed and rebuild in a healthier way. Retinols are fantastic multitaskers, proven to clear pimples and fade the marks they leave behind. Please note, some vitamin A derivatives can be irritating, therefore make sure you research one that has a lower rate (such as .1%). Ease in using Retinol by using yours two or three nights a week and topping it with a hydrating moisturizer. (As skin adjusts, up the frequency, adding one night each week.)

Moisturizers for Women in their 20s and 30s by Luxurious Bath Boutique™️

Moisturize, moisturize and moisturize some more!

Ok I will be honest and tell you that I was not a moisturizer girl. I felt that since I had oily skin that I didn’t need to moisturize. That is so far from the truth! Moisturizers do more than just moisturize the skin. They protect the skin from air pollutants, UVA/UVB, and can supply the skin with nutrients it needs to continue fighting acne, even skin tone, etc.

You need to make sure you are choosing a serum and/or moisturizer that will includes ingredients that your skin needs to look its best.

As with any skincare routine at any age, you will need to pay attention to your skin in order to give it the ingredients it needs. Don’t get caught up with the hype of you need this or need that. Many times, less it more. You just need a Performance Skincare that will deliver!

I hope you enjoyed this blog. If you have a routine that has been beneficial to you, please share it below as well as any questions you may have.

Until next time,

Beauty Mixtress™️
